Introduction

My purpose and motivation for writing on these pages comes from Paul’s challenge to Titus in chapter two verses three through five where Paul has told Titus to teach “the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— 4that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be blasphemed.”

I am deeply disturbed about the direction that our culture is taking women, but I am even more deeply disturbed that many of God’s people (ladies in this case) lack the discernment to recognize that and the determination to discipline their lives in order to counter that influence. As the culture affects our homes, we lose our edge in childrearing (which is, by the way, the primary challenge God has given to mothers). Our ability to love our husbands as God has designed is totally being replaced by our desire to compete with them or to learn how to live independently of them.

God has blessed me with two daughters and a daughter-in-law with whom I can share some of the lessons and principles of life that I have learned along the way. I have many private avenues through which I can do this, but I thought it might be helpful to other ladies if some of this is out on the Web for them to read, ponder and perhaps give response. My husband (a computer geek) has been strongly encouraging me to use the Internet in this way. I trust God to use this effort to be an encouragement to other ladies, but if it only reaches my own daughters and grand daughters, then it will have been worth it all.

I hope to be able to write about spiritual lessons God is teaching me, homemaking suggestions that might be helpful, child rearing principles and so forth. I’m not perfect at any of this, but I have a lot of experience and God has given me a sense of urgency in passing down to my children and grandchildren important principles for living a life that pleases God.

I have always had mothering in my heart and soul, but at this point of my life, God has really sharpened my focus! It is my sole desire and mission to pass a godly heritage on to my children and grandchildren. I truly believe that it takes all of the generations to give children a strong, healthy view of their purpose in life and to that end I dedicate my life to my family. If you are wondering how ministry to others fits into that plan, may I just say that ministry to others in and outside the Church is part of that godly heritage that I am striving to pass on. I believe that the world system that permeates our culture has been designed to make all of us soft, especially our children. If we continue to follow that culture, how will we stand for our convictions in a world that seeks to undermine our belief in God and His Word at every turn?

May God please take the feeble efforts of this home maker from Michigan and use them in whatever way He sees fit for His Glory and for the growth of His Kingdom.
